Vi Partners Celebrates 25 Years with Launch of €161 Million Venture Fund for European Tech and Healthcare Startups
Swiss venture capital firm Vi Partners marks its 25th anniversary by announcing the first close of a €161 million fund aimed at nurturing early-stage technology and healthcare companies across Europe, with a pronounced focus on AI, software, and digital health innovations.
Swiss venture capital firm Vi Partners has announced the first close of a new €161 million (CHF 150 million) fund, underscoring its commitment to early-stage innovation as it celebrates a quarter-century in operation. This latest fund signals the firm’s continued role as a key player in backing the next generation of European technology and healthcare companies.
Founded in 2001, Vi Partners has played a pivotal role in reinforcing Switzerland’s status as a leading European hub for technological and healthcare advancement. Over more than twenty-five years, the firm has invested in successive waves of entrepreneurs, fostering some of the country’s most prominent tech and life sciences innovators.
The new fund focuses on Series A and early-stage ventures spanning technology and healthcare, reflecting the firm’s historic dual-pillar investment strategy. In the technology sector, Vi Partners will target companies developing enterprise software, data-driven platforms, and AI applications, as well as fintech and industrial technology solutions. On the healthcare front, the fund will continue backing startups that address critical needs in biotech, medtech, and the growing field of digital health.
Vi Partners boasts a strong track record as an early backer of both tech and healthcare trailblazers. Notable portfolio companies in healthcare include AMAL Therapeutics, Kuros Biosciences, Araris Biotech, and Oculis, while the firm has supported technology leaders such as Nexthink, SumUp, and Unique.
“Over the past 25 years, we have consistently focused on identifying and supporting teams with strong scientific and technological foundations, with the ambition to build outstanding companies,” said Diego Braguglia, Managing Partner at Vi Partners. He emphasised that the new fund enables the firm to further pursue its disciplined and long-term investment approach, “grounded in deep sector expertise and close collaboration with entrepreneurs.”
Olivier Laplace, fellow Managing Partner, echoed this sentiment: “With this fund, we are entering the next phase of our investment activity and look forward to partnering with founders building category-defining companies out of Switzerland and Europe.” Laplace highlighted the firm’s strategy of being a “committed, hands-on partner from the early stages onward, combining capital with experience, network, and long-term support.”
Vi Partners’ announcement comes as European venture capital continues to navigate a dynamic climate, with investors increasingly turning toward vertical specialisation and long-term value creation. The firm’s focus on artificial intelligence, mission-critical enterprise software, and digital health is well-aligned with trends shaping both Switzerland and the wider European innovation landscape.
