Tenet Healthcare Rolls Out AI to Improve Clinical and Financial Operations

Tenet Healthcare Corporation, a leading investor-owned healthcare services provider in the United States, is advancing its digital transformation with new artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives aimed at improving both clinical workflows and financial operations. The company, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, operates 65 acute care hospitals and over 450 healthcare facilities, employing nearly 98,000 staff members and reporting approximately $20.8 billion in trailing twelve-month revenue as of late 2025.

A core part of Tenet’s strategy is focused on leveraging AI to ease the growing administrative demands on healthcare providers and enhance operational efficiency. Two key areas of recent development are clinical documentation automation and revenue cycle management, where the company has formed significant partnerships with AI technology providers Commure and Google Cloud.

Automating Clinical Documentation

With clinician burnout remaining a concern in the U.S., particularly due to the time required to complete electronic health record (EHR) documentation, Tenet Healthcare has introduced ambient AI solutions to support its physician network. In partnership with Commure, Tenet launched Commure Scribe—an ambient AI tool designed to automatically capture patient-provider conversations during medical visits. The technology relies on natural language processing and advanced large language models to generate structured, clinically accurate notes in real time, supporting over 60 languages and dialects.

Unlike previous manual or dictation-based methods, Commure Scribe enables clinicians to focus more on patient care by reducing the burden of paperwork. It also offers automated coding suggestions (such as CPT and ICD-10 codes) and streamlines uploads to major EHR systems. Although metrics specific to Tenet’s rollout have not been released, Commure has reported that, more broadly, its AI tool delivers an average 81% reduction in documentation time, with significant decreases in claim denials.

Enhancing Revenue Cycle Management

Healthcare providers must also manage complex financial workflows, where denials and inefficient processes can significantly impact cash flow. Through its subsidiary, Conifer Health Solutions, Tenet announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud in late 2025 to embed advanced AI within its proprietary revenue cycle management (RCM) platform. The new system is designed to introduce intelligent automation, improve coding accuracy, accelerate collections, and enhance the patient financial experience.

Although Tenet and Conifer have yet to release public performance data specific to these AI deployments, prior case studies involving similar AI-driven RCM implementations reported a 77% increase in average monthly collections, a 25% decrease in accounts receivable days, and an 80% reduction in coding turnaround time.

These AI investments reflect Tenet’s broader aim to support provider well-being, improve the quality of care delivery, and maintain financial sustainability amidst industry pressures such as reimbursement changes, labor shortages, and regulatory requirements.
