Sweden secured a prominent position in the European technology landscape in 2025, attracting €4.1 billion in tech investment and ranking fifth among European countries by total venture funding. According to figures published by Tech.eu, this placed Sweden as a key contributor during what became the second-strongest year for European tech investment in the last three years, with the region reaching a collective €72 billion.

Investment in Sweden was focused on capital-intensive and industrial sectors, with large deals driving much of the total. Hardware and energy companies led funding activity, highlighting Sweden’s ongoing commitment to industrial innovation, expansion of digital infrastructure, and the energy transition. Notably, this emphasis reflects strategic priorities such as data center efficiency, sustainable power systems, and technologies designed to advance clean energy usage.

Software and health technology made up a secondary layer of investment activity, supported by a steady flow of venture and growth rounds. Software investment extended across digital platforms, enterprise tools, and no-code product development. In health technology, Swedish firms continued to innovate around digital healthcare and medical data, deploying advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve outcomes and preventive care.

AI innovation played a significant role within Sweden's growing deeptech sector. A key example is Lovable, an AI software company that enables non-developers to generate full-stack applications through natural language prompts—leveraging AI as a development tool and lowering barriers to software creation. In healthcare, Neko Health combined advanced sensors, AI, and data analytics to provide preventive health diagnostics, illustrating how machine learning techniques are increasingly applied beyond traditional tech domains.

Other sectors, such as fintech, transportation technology, and legal technology, also remained active. Froda, a fintech startup, drew on machine learning for streamlined business loans, while Legora developed AI tools to automate legal workflows. Transportation technology firms like Polestar and Einride focused on sustainable mobility, the latter employing autonomous and AI-driven systems to advance electric freight logistics.

Despite leadership in sectors like hardware and energy tech, emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and cleantech saw increasing early- and mid-stage investment. This signals notable investor confidence in Sweden’s capacity to develop next-generation digital and industrial solutions.

Among the top fundraisers:

  • EcoDataCenter led with €1.05 billion to grow its green, high-performance data centers supporting cloud and AI workloads.
  • Elvy and Aira raised major rounds for home energy solutions integrating hardware and optimization software.
  • Lovable secured €470 million to expand its AI no-code development platform.
  • Neko Health raised $260 million for AI-powered preventive healthcare.
  • Legora received €200 million for its AI-driven legal technology platform.
  • Einride and Polestar continued to push sustainable and AI-enabled mobility solutions, while Froda and Qvantum advanced digital finance and energy systems.

Collectively, these companies exemplify Sweden’s strategic focus on sustainability, deeptech, and digital infrastructure, positioning the country as a European center for industrial and AI-driven innovation.
