Lovable Offers Free AI App Building on International Women’s Day
Lovable is granting free worldwide access to its AI-powered app-building platform on International Women’s Day as part of its SheBuilds initiative. The event, aimed especially at women, lets participants build and launch their own applications without coding skills or registration. The initiative highlights growing efforts to make AI technology more accessible to underrepresented groups in the tech sector.
Lovable, an AI software company, is set to make its app-building platform freely available worldwide for 24 hours on March 8, in recognition of International Women’s Day and its own SheBuilds initiative. SheBuilds is a programme created by Lovable to showcase and empower women developing software globally through accessible technology.
For one day, anyone—not just women—with an idea can join the event, with no requirement for coding experience or prior registration. Lovable’s AI platform simplifies the process of building and shipping real applications, aiming to break down traditional barriers for those without technical backgrounds. The accessibility push is underscored by additional incentives: participating builders will receive $100 in Anthropic API credits and $250 in Stripe fee credits to support experimentation and future product scaling.
The event will feature a live building session hosted by Elena Verna, Lovable’s Head of Growth, streamed from Stockholm. Additional gatherings are planned in Boston and over 30 locations across 17 countries. Past SheBuilds participants have successfully launched products that now serve customers around the world, such as AI Recess, MicroFundHer, and Sawa.
Elena Verna commented that SheBuilds is "working to change" the long-standing culture that required women to "wait for support, for permission, and for resources to build." She emphasized the event’s goal of allowing more people to turn their ideas into live products, potentially shifting the broader landscape of tech innovation.
Anton Osika, Lovable’s Co-founder and CEO, stated that "the ability to build software determined who got to turn ideas into reality, and most people were locked out." He added that AI is fundamentally altering this dynamic, with SheBuilds intended as a practical demonstration of this transformation.
The initiative illustrates how AI technologies are enabling new routes into software creation for traditionally underrepresented groups, helping to democratize access to the business and creative opportunities that app development can offer.
