Ford Introduces AI Assistant for Pro Fleet Telematics Customers
Ford has launched an AI assistant for its Ford Pro commercial customers in the United States, integrating the tool into its Pro telematics subscription service. The assistant provides fleet managers with advanced analytics on vehicle performance and safety, underscoring Ford's focus on software-driven revenue and automation.
Ford has unveiled a new artificial intelligence assistant designed for its Ford Pro commercial customers in the United States. The company rolled out the AI assistant to all U.S.-based Pro telematics subscribers this week, aiming to enhance fleet management through advanced data analytics.
The AI assistant is provided as part of the Ford Pro telematics subscription, a service that has become increasingly central to Ford's business strategy. In 2025, the Ford Pro division reported $66.3 billion in revenue and $6.8 billion in net income. Paid software subscriptions within the unit increased by 30% year-over-year, underscoring the growing importance of digital tools for the manufacturer.
Unveiled at Work Truck Week in Indianapolis, the system is available to more than 840,000 global Pro telematics subscribers, though Ford has not disclosed a specific number of U.S. users. The assistant's core function is to analyze millions of data points each day, providing fleet managers with actionable insights into fuel consumption, seatbelt usage, vehicle health, idle times, speeding, and acceleration events. According to Ford, the system offers detailed metrics that exceed traditional diagnostic error codes, allowing for more precise oversight of fleet operations.
Ford states that the Pro AI assistant is built on Google Cloud and leverages multiple AI agents. The platform uses internal fleet data from each customer to help improve accuracy and minimize the occurrence of errors, often referred to as 'AI hallucinations.' The integration of internal fleet data is intended to ensure that fleet managers receive reliable, actionable information tailored to their specific operations.
This initiative is part of Ford's broader strategy to generate new revenue streams from software and digital services across its portfolio. At the recent CES 2026 event, Ford also revealed plans for a separate AI assistant aimed at passenger vehicle owners. This consumer-focused assistant is set to launch within Ford's smartphone app, with eventual expansion into vehicle systems expected by 2027.
The expansion of AI-driven tools comes as Ford, like other automakers, emphasizes software as a source of growth, while also cautioning about potential workforce reductions. Ford CEO Jim Farley recently predicted that AI technology could halve the number of white-collar jobs in the United States. In public statements, Farley has argued that the country will require a robust workforce of essential personnel to maintain and grow the infrastructure needed for AI-driven initiatives.
Automakers worldwide are increasingly investing in AI solutions for commercial and consumer applications. Ford's deployment of its AI assistant to commercial fleet customers signals ongoing competition among large automotive manufacturers to offer enhanced services and analytics powered by emerging technologies.
