European technology investment activity reached new heights this week, marked by a surge in major funding rounds and strategic acquisitions across the artificial intelligence sector. The UK-based, Nvidia-backed firm Nscale announced a landmark $2 billion funding raise and added high-profile board members Sheryl Sandberg and Nick Clegg, signaling both financial strength and leadership depth for the company’s next growth phase.

French AI startup Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI), founded by noted researcher Yann LeCun, secured over $1 billion to further its work in AI world modeling, highlighting the significant resources flowing into foundational AI research in Europe. Meanwhile, Swedish legal technology firm Legora drew attention with a $550 million Series D round, boosting its valuation to $5.55 billion as it accelerates US expansion. Legora also completed its first acquisition, expanding its footprint in North America and reflecting the increasing pace of cross-Atlantic tech deals.

The week also featured a flurry of acquisition activity. French analytics company Kayrros, specializing in satellite and geospatial data for climate intelligence, is set to be acquired by Energy Aspects. Finnish wearable technology provider ŌURA acquired Doublepoint, a gesture-tech startup, to expand its AI capabilities in consumer health. In Sweden, expense management platform Ramp made a strategic European acquisition to compete more directly with rival Brex.

Investor moves further demonstrated confidence in AI’s growth prospects. Deep Science Ventures launched a new doctoral cohort designed to turn academic science into startups. French fund Elaia closed €134 million for its latest vehicle targeting breakthrough European tech, while Samaipata debuted its €110 million Fund III with a clear focus on backing AI-native startups, signaling robust interest from institutional capital.

On the policy front, the EU–INC campaign warned that, without the creation of a pan-European corporate registration standard, founders may opt for US jurisdictions such as Delaware, risking a drain of high-growth startups from the continent. In Ukraine, authorities launched a world-first initiative granting startups access to real-world conflict data for enhancing AI training models—a move blending geopolitical and technological innovation.

Among the next-generation startups, activity spanned a wide range, from 'Vinted for golf' with UK startup Hosel, to Denmark’s Vasuqi receiving BioInnovation Institute funding, Ukraine’s Black Forest Systems focusing on infantry drone platforms, and Ireland’s SignaCor Therapeutics advancing cardiovascular health solutions. Finnish venture Bliss aims to build culturally intelligent AI for therapy, underlining the diverse applications of AI across health, defense, and consumer markets.

The breadth and scale of this week’s funding and M&A activity reinforce Europe’s expanding role in global artificial intelligence and technology enterprise. The region's ecosystem continues to attract record investments, high-profile deals, and policy debates with implications far beyond its borders.
