Tower Raises €5.5 Million to Advance Data Engineering for AI
Berlin-based startup Tower has secured €5.5 million in pre-seed and seed funding to enhance its platform for data engineers in the AI era. The funding will support Tower’s mission to empower companies with infrastructure for managing analytical data storage and processing while maintaining control over their data.
Berlin-based Tower has raised €5.5 million in pre-seed and seed funding rounds to expand its infrastructure platform for data engineers navigating the demands of artificial intelligence. The investment, led by DIG Ventures at the pre-seed stage and Speedinvest at the seed stage, also includes participation from Flyer One Ventures, Roosh Ventures, Celero Ventures, Angel Invest, and several notable angel investors.
Tower addresses the growing need for robust, reliable access to business data, a requirement that has intensified as AI becomes central to organisational strategy. As companies compete in the AI era, ownership and freshness of data have become key factors for trustworthy AI model development. Open data storage architectures, which allow businesses to control and secure their information, are essential for supporting modern analytics and AI workloads.
The Tower platform enables organisations to manage analytical storage and processing systems without relinquishing data ownership. It brings together storage and compute elements in a unified environment, equipping data engineering teams with tools to build, test, and operate advanced analytics solutions. This is particularly relevant given the increasing use of AI-powered coding assistants, which can quickly generate application and pipeline code for data-intensive operations.
According to Tower’s founders, CEO Serhii Sokolenko and CTO Brad Heller—both former Snowflake engineers—the core challenge for data teams has shifted. While AI-driven assistants have accelerated the ability to produce code, deploying reliable, production-grade systems using sensitive company data remains complex. Tower’s infrastructure is designed to bridge this gap, facilitating the conversion of AI-generated concepts into fully functional business systems that operate on real, up-to-date enterprise data.
The platform leverages the Apache Iceberg open table format, which enhances compatibility with major data platforms and leading analytics engines. This approach allows customers to control data access while ensuring AI systems can draw on company-specific information to improve analysis and decision-making.
The fresh capital will be used to further develop Tower’s platform capabilities and expand its go-to-market team, supporting the company’s growth in the evolving market for AI-oriented data engineering solutions.
