Apple to Launch iPad with A18 Chip and Apple Intelligence in 2026
Apple plans to release an iPad equipped with the A18 chip and support for Apple Intelligence in 2026, according to a report. The device is expected to maintain its existing design while expanding Apple’s AI capabilities across its hardware line-up.
Apple is preparing to release an iPad model powered by its new A18 chip and equipped with Apple Intelligence features in 2026, according to reporting from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This development highlights Apple’s continued focus on integrating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into its consumer devices.
The forthcoming iPad aims to broaden access to Apple Intelligence—a suite of AI-driven tools and enhancements—across more of the company’s product range. The A18 chip is expected to deliver improved processing power, supporting on-device AI functionalities such as advanced language generation, image analysis, and context-aware productivity tools. Apple Intelligence refers to Apple’s own platform of machine learning and AI tools, such as predictive text, image recognition, and personal assistance features.
Although technical details remain limited, Gurman reports that the device is “ready to go” and suggests that Apple does not plan major design changes; the new model is likely to resemble its predecessors in appearance. Earlier industry speculation had indicated a possible A19 chip, but the latest information confirms the inclusion of the A18 chipset instead.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is available on other iPad models, including the iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. The iPad 11, launched in March 2025 with Apple’s A16 chip, set a starting retail price of $349 in the United States.
The addition of enhanced AI hardware and software capabilities is seen by analysts as integral to Apple’s strategy to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving tablet and mobile device market. By enabling more devices with local AI processing, Apple aims to improve privacy and performance for users, in line with broader industry trends towards on-device intelligence.
No significant information has been disclosed regarding a European-specific launch or regulatory considerations at this time.
