SOUS, an Amsterdam-based artificial intelligence (AI) platform focusing on growth solutions for independent restaurants and food and beverage businesses, has raised €4 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by Seed +Speed Ventures, with participation from existing investor PeakBridge, as well as āltitude, Gekko Capital, and several angel investors.

As the restaurant industry adapts to evolving digital behaviours, many operators contend with fragmented technology systems and increasing dependence on third-party platforms. Such platforms often limit restaurants’ control over customer data and lead to high commission fees.

SOUS aims to address these challenges by building AI agents—software entities that use machine learning to perform tasks autonomously. The company’s AI tools operate in the background, supporting restaurant growth by enhancing digital visibility, converting online discovery into direct sales, and automating crucial aspects of marketing, brand management, and customer communication.

Founded by Devon Scoulelis and Thomas Scholte, with William Hurst joining as co-founder and CTO, SOUS positions itself as an end-to-end growth platform. It assists restaurants from initial customer discovery through to transaction and long-term customer retention.

"Running a restaurant means running a digital business. The local entrepreneur doesn't have the budget for a CMO, CFO and CTO. We're building an AI agent that takes over part of that work, so the local pizzeria has the same firepower and tools as large players like Domino's with their many employees and budget," said Thomas Scholte, co-founder and CCO of SOUS.

SOUS’s platform enables restaurants to directly increase their online presence and sales, as well as access new revenue streams such as takeaway, retail products, experiences, and subscriptions. The system integrates with existing restaurant technology, such as Zenchef, making it a growth-focused layer within the broader restaurant software environment.

Through partnerships and technical integrations, SOUS helps restaurants improve search and AI-based platform visibility, increase bookings, and enhance overall digital engagement, benefitting restaurants, guests, and technology providers.

With the new funds, SOUS plans to expand its product and engineering teams, develop its AI-driven capabilities further, and pursue international growth starting with entry into the German market.
