Lexroom, a legal artificial intelligence (AI) company headquartered in Milan, has closed a $50 million Series B funding round led by Left Lane Capital. Additional participation came from Base10 Partners, Eurazeo, Acurio Ventures, Entourage, and View Different. The investment arrives eight months after Lexroom secured its Series A and brings the company’s total funding to more than $73 million.

Lexroom develops AI infrastructure tailored for legal professionals, with a focus on Europe’s civil law jurisdictions. Rather than relying on general-purpose language models—which can be prone to inaccuracies in sensitive legal contexts—Lexroom’s platform takes a data-first approach. It is underpinned by a proprietary database containing over six million verified legal sources, including legislation, case law, and regulatory documents. This data set is continuously updated to ensure the relevance and reliability of the platform’s results.

According to Lexroom’s CEO and co-founder Paolo Fois, "lawyers needed a better way to work, and LLMs [large language models] could deliver it. The missing piece was data—always-updated laws, relevant case law, and legal proceedings. Civil law countries need an AI legal engine that reasons data-first."

By grounding AI-generated outputs in verified sources, Lexroom seeks to address challenges associated with generative AI tools in the legal field, such as fabricated citations and inaccurate legal references. This approach aims to align the company’s technology more closely with professional legal workflows and standards, reducing the risks of error and improving trust in AI-powered legal tools.

The platform is currently used by over 8,000 law firms and corporate legal teams, with a majority engaging daily. Lexroom reports that clients use the tool to reduce time spent on legal research and drafting, allowing legal teams to handle increased workloads without compromising on professional standards.

With this latest round of funding, Lexroom intends to expand its services across additional European civil law countries, starting with Spain and Germany. The company plans to build local teams and develop jurisdiction-specific features, collaborating with firms and professionals in each target market.

The rapid growth in Lexroom’s user base and funding signals a broader trend in the adoption of specialized AI systems within regulated sectors such as law. As European countries continue to modernize their legal frameworks and technological infrastructure, demand for reliable, domain-specific AI is expected to increase.
