Google Unveils Gemini Spark, a 24/7 AI Agent for Productivity
Google has launched a significant update to its Gemini AI platform, introducing new features and AI agents such as Gemini Spark and Daily Brief. The rollout brings expanded capabilities for productivity, workflow automation, and multimodal content creation to subscribers in the U.S.
Google has announced an extensive update to its Gemini AI platform, introducing a revamped interface, new AI agents, and enhanced multimodal functionalities aimed at expanding personal and enterprise productivity.
The redesigned Gemini chatbot, now available on Android and iOS, features a new design approach called "Neural Expressive." This update incorporates improved typography, fluid animations, and haptic feedback, making interactions more natural and responsive. Integration of Gemini Live—the platform’s voice interaction feature—allows users to engage in spoken conversations and seamlessly switch between typing and talking. In a shift away from text-heavy responses, Gemini now provides replies that may include images, graphics, and narrated videos. The update is being globally rolled out.
A notable addition is the AI agent called Daily Brief, which generates summaries of users’ activities by drawing information from connected applications such as Gmail and Google Calendar. Daily Brief can prioritize tasks based on user objectives and suggest next actions. Importantly, users can provide direct feedback—using thumbs up or down—to help improve the agent’s responses. This feature is available in the United States to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.
Furthermore, Google has unveiled Gemini Omni, a new multimodal AI model that enables users to create video content by combining text prompts with images and existing video footage. Users can modify video backgrounds, apply effects, use templates, and generate personalized avatars for use within the videos. Gemini Omni is now available to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.
The centerpiece of this release is Gemini Spark, described by Google as a "24/7 personal AI agent." Built on the advanced Gemini 3.5 foundation, Spark directly integrates with Google Workspace applications—including Gmail, Docs, and Slides. The agent is capable of interacting with external platforms such as Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart, enabling it to automate recurring tasks, generate comprehensive reports, draft emails, and build complete workflows by aggregating information from multiple sources. Currently in testing, Gemini Spark is scheduled to enter beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States this week.
Looking ahead, Google intends to expand Spark’s availability to macOS via the Gemini app this summer. This rollout will bring newly developed voice functionalities, empowering users to convert spoken language—even with filler words—into polished drafts for reports or emails.
These updates underscore Google’s commitment to advancing conversational AI and workflow integration, with new agents designed to deliver round-the-clock assistance and more natural, multimodal user interactions.
