Google NotebookLM Adds Mobile Infographic and Slide Customization
Google has introduced new customization options for infographics and slide decks in its NotebookLM mobile app for Android and iOS. Users can now tailor document orientation, language, content sources, and presentation formats directly from their devices. The update expands usability for on-the-go content creation.
Google has expanded the functionality of its NotebookLM mobile application for Android and iOS, providing new customization options for generating infographics and slide decks. The update, which began rolling out to users last week, allows individuals to modify various aspects of generated content directly from their mobile devices—an important step forward for productivity-focused artificial intelligence tools.
Previously, users of NotebookLM's mobile app were limited to default settings when creating infographics and slide decks while on the go. With the latest release, a new set of pencil icons in the app’s Studio tab enables deeper editing and configuration.
Infographic Customization Features
For infographics, several customizable elements are now accessible:
- Orientation: Select between landscape, portrait, or square formats.
- Sources: Choose specific information sources relevant to the generated infographic.
- Prompt: Input a custom prompt to guide content generation, leveraging advances in generative AI.
- Language: Set the preferred language for the output.
Slide Deck Customization Features
The customization options for slide decks include:
- Format: Choose between a 'Detailed Deck', suitable for detailed reading or email, and 'Presenter Slides', designed with visuals and key points for live presentations.
- Language: Select the output language.
- Length: Options for short, default, or—exclusively for Google AI Ultra subscribers—long presentations.
- Sources: Pick particular information sources to inform the slide deck content.
- Prompt: Provide a custom entry for more tailored generation.
These enhancements allow users greater flexibility and control over how generative AI shapes their documents, supporting a wider variety of professional and personal use cases. The new features employ underlying AI technologies to synthesize, summarise, and format content from multiple data sources, reflecting broader trends in the application of AI to productivity and information management.
Additional Mobile Features
In addition to document customization, Google has launched 'Video Overviews' within the mobile app. However, at this stage, the Studio tab does not include Mind Map, Reports, or Data Table features, and the new video summaries come without customization capabilities.
The rollout is continuing, and users who do not see the new features can force-stop the NotebookLM app to prompt an update. The expansion brings the mobile application closer to the desktop version's functionality, highlighting the growing significance of AI-powered document management for users who work across devices.
