Futurepresent Launches $300M Fund to Back AI Startups
German venture capital firm futurepresent has launched a $300 million fund to back artificial intelligence startups across infrastructure and industry. The firm, with investments in 14 AI-driven companies, is emerging from stealth after a year of activity. Its portfolio spans AI for physical systems, complex industries, and technical infrastructure.
German venture capital firm futurepresent has formally announced its debut $300 million Fund I, breaking cover after a year of investing in artificial intelligence (AI) startups across infrastructure and industries.
Built as a small partnership, futurepresent prioritises close founder relationships over the traditional scale of larger VC platforms. The firm’s flexible mandate allows investments ranging from pre-seed and seed rounds to more concentrated support for startups poised for growth. To date, futurepresent has partnered with 14 companies in its portfolio.
The firm focuses on three key areas of the AI ecosystem:
AI for the Physical World: Among its portfolio is General Intuition, a company developing advanced models for spatiotemporal reasoning—an approach that enables systems to understand and predict changes over time and space, critical in areas like robotics and autonomous operations.
Applied AI in Complex Industries: Investments include Skalar, provider of fully autonomous tax and audit solutions, as well as Afori and inca, both companies using AI-driven approaches to overhaul parts of the insurance value chain. These applications aim to bring automation and precision to fields traditionally reliant on manual expertise.
AI Infrastructure: futurepresent led the pre-seed round for Isidor, focusing on vertically integrated data pipelines that support reinforcement learning—a branch of AI involving learning through trial and error. The firm is also invested in Slide, a company developing modern IT infrastructure tailored to managed service providers in the evolving AI era.
Futurepresent touts its presence across both the US and Europe as a strategic advantage, enabling connections between two leading global tech ecosystems. The partners behind the firm bring experience from over a decade in venture capital, spanning both generalist and specialised funds, and intend to establish futurepresent as a relationship-driven investor accessible from early-stage through scale-up.
In statements, partners Thomas Lueke and Johnson Yang highlighted their emphasis on partnership depth rather than firm size, seeking authentic, enduring collaborations with startup founders.
The fund's launch occurs as the AI sector continues to attract considerable investment, particularly across Europe and the US, reflecting growing demand for AI solutions spanning both industrial and digital infrastructure.
