MIT Develops Shrinking Technique for Compact Optical Computing Devices

MIT researchers have introduced an innovative 'implosion carving' technique, enabling fabrication of nanodevices capable of optical computation. By shrinking hydrogels to 1/2000th their original size, these devices can manipulate light at scales previously inaccessible, advancing the prospects for optical chips and high-throughput imaging. The method could lead to new applications in computing, biomedicine, and information processing.
